FAQ

  • We have a diverse portfolio of training programmes and workshops aimed at a range of different audiences.

We offer professional skills training and CPD for corporate clients, drawing on our creative background to develop highly transferable skills for communication and collaboration. These sessions are aimed at clients working in a wide range of professional settings.

We also run theatre-making courses and training programmes for young people interested in developing careers in the arts and creative industries.

Alongside our training portfolio, BRICK also supports and develops arts professionals through our artistic programme and community engagement projects.

  • We work closely with corporate clients to understand your goals and build a session that suits your needs. Creative practice, especially theatre, uses a lot of highly transferable ‘soft’ skills, including:

    • collaboration

    • communication

    • empathy

    • problem-solving

    • spoken and visual presentation

    • improvisation, adaptation and thinking on your feet

    • articulating ideas simply and effectively

    • self-care, wellbeing and resilience

    • working with limited resources or within tight parameters

Our facilitators have extensive experience of teaching these skills to students through engaging, hands-on workshops. Our sessions are the absolute opposite of ‘death by PowerPoint’!

Having said that – don’t worry! These aren’t ‘drama workshops’, and there’s no role-play or acting involved! We use skills and techniques drawn from theatre practice, including performance and design theories, but they are very much applied to the work you’re doing with your teams.

We will guide you through interactive exercises that unlock valuable collaboration and communication skills, at a pace and pitch you feel comfortable with. These skills have proven benefit in a wide range of professional settings.

  • Many of the professional skills mentioned above can be delivered through experiential away days as well as in more structured workshop settings.

Would you like to send your team for a fun day building puppets, or trying stand-up comedy, or getting hands-on with lighting design? We can organise unique experience days where everybody gets to try something completely different, all the while underpinned by valuable creative skills which are highly transferable to your workplace. We’ll guide participants to reflect on how these skills might be applicable to their work, without making it feel like a lecture!

Or perhaps you’re interested in something totally immersive and bespoke? A murder mystery game in a country mansion? A silent disco in a warehouse? We’ve got decades of experience in theatre and events, so no idea is too crazy.

  • BRICK is a charitable organisation and any profit we make from working with corporate clients goes back into supporting our important work with young people and communities.

It is also our overwhelming experience that instilling creative thinking helps to foster working environments that are more empathetic, open-minded and collaborative, and colleagues who are more resilient and focused on wellbeing, helping you sustain a caring and ethical workplace for your organisation.

  • Scroll down for details of our creative training programmes for young people. These are very different to our corporate training courses and very much focused on developing young artists with ambitions to work in the arts and creative industries.

We teach a range of skills including performance-making and devising, directing, design and technical theatre, as well as offering opportunities to network with industry professionals and co-create your own projects.

  • Our team was formerly responsible for one of the UK’s most innovative theatre degree courses, with decades of combined experience teaching performance, directing, design and technical skills.

We have a track record for innovation, including designing the UK’s first distance-learning degree in digital theatre technologies as well as continually reviewing our on-campus provision to keep our courses highly practical and relevant to the industry. We are also committed to radical inclusion, working with students of all backgrounds and abilities to use diversity as a creative resource. We regularly achieved 100% graduate employability, alongside sector-beating satisfaction levels in the National Student Survey.

All of our facilitators are qualified Fellows and Senior Fellows of the Higher Education Academy, a professional standards framework that assures high quality teaching and learning, inclusive and ethical practice, and a commitment to continuing development.

Alongside our education experience, we are trained and experienced arts practitioners in a wide range of disciplines including theatre design, directing, writing and dramaturgy, performance and technical theatre. We have run festivals and theatre companies, built and operated venues, delivered projects in communities, schools and prisons, commissioned writing for stage, radio and television, and much more.

    Creative Crafting Away Day

This group away day introduces participants to creative methods and approaches drawn from theatre design as a way of unlocking new skills in collaboration, communication and lateral thinking. Depending on the workshop, participants might explore areas such as prop making, light and sound, puppetry or costume to discover new ways of communicating ideas and improvising creative solutions to complex problems. Throughout the day, we will facilitate participants to reflect on ways in which the methods we are exploring might be relevant to their own day-to-day work.

    Creative Facilitation

Whether it's designing a new product, reflecting on your achievements or planning for the future, all businesses need to bring their teams together to collaborate and think creatively. Our creative facilitators will structure a session or series of sessions to help your team get their ideas flowing, whether it's just to get things started and review progress, or working with you through every step of the process.

Our team has previously been responsible for structuring and leading a wide range of major projects, including designing new degree programmes and collaborating on multi-million pound capital projects.

Sessions are completely bespoke to your project but our aim is always to create a space that feels creative, constructive and "un-meetingy", getting your team hands-on with the process and facilitating every team member – from bold thinkers to careful strategists – to make meaningful contributions in a way that suits them, so everybody feels invested in the changes you're building together.

These are bespoke sessions and can be facilitated online or in-person.
